Dec. 18th, 2008

One year lj anniversary

It's a year to the day since I posted my first fic on LJ! In celebration of this fact, some numbers pertaining to the past twelve months.

50200 - total word count of fics

31 - fics posted (some still anon)

12 - Remus/Sirius fics

8 - femslash fics

3 - NC-17 rated fics

1 - Snupin fics, and also academic articles accepted for publication (ok, that isn't fan related)

0 - threesome fics

From this I draw 3 main conclusions: a) I have written a lot of fic this year, although b) I haven't written much seriously porny fic, and c) why on earth haven't I written any threesomes?!

I will do my best to remedy b) & c) in 2009 and am working on a Remus/Sirius/James story already. Feel free to suggest  / request others ;-)

Recs - Pansy/Ginny art & Remus/Sirius fic

It turns out (and somehow I had forgotten to expect this) that if one writes exchange fics then one receives gifts in return. We're only five days into December and I've received two absolutely wonderful gifts already:

The first is 'NB', a gorgeous piece of Pansy/Ginny art , R-rated & NWS.
Despite the description as 'BDSM-lite' , this drawing isn't obscenely femslashy or terrifyingly kinky - in case you don't like that kind of thing, though perhaps you do. Actually, the art is cute and funny with all sorts of wonderful details like the Weasley-esque clock, the motivational wall posters, their socks, & of course Ginny's 'NB' to herself. I thoroughly recommend it.

My second gift is These Conversations We Aren't Having by gyzym, PG-13.
I like fics that are funny, or angsty, or just beautifully written, but it's a rare treat to find all three at once. Remus' dry observations are great & the dialogue is amusing and authentic, but the interactions between Remus & Sirius centre around the things that carefully aren't being said & the mouldy peas on the floor act as a further reminder. I'm not going to explain about the peas, you'll just have to read it - but unless you hate R/S with a fiery passion I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Countdown to December 1st...

I have finally submitted all the fic I'm writing for Xmas fests, so I now get to sit back, relax and enjoy the fruits of other people's labour (well, once I finish this chapter and these job applications...) These are the fests I will be watching over the next few weeks:

Remus/Sirius Small Gifts - posting starts Dec 1st

HP Yule Balls - posting starts Dec 1st

Snupin Santa - posting starts Dec 1st

H/D Holidays - posting starts Dec 1st

Fem Exchange - posting starts Dec 15th

Are there other fests I should be looking out for which involve HP slash or femslash? After all, I don't want to run short of free (and thus delightfully recession proof) reading material.

Electioneering

Title: Electioneering

Author: Woldy

Rating: G

Pairing: none

Prompt: 'Try' for[info]100quills

Wordcount: 100

Summary: Remus campaigns for the Ministry of Magic elections.

Disclaimer: not mine & not profiting.

"Good day," Remus says, polite and friendly as per their volunteer training. "I'm campaigning on behalf of Circe Stormlaw. Can we count on your vote?"

"Thinking of choosing Fudge," the man replies blandly.

"Stormlaw favours benefits reform," Remus says encouragingly, "and a childcare program which-"

"Sorry, not interested."

Remus never vocalises his own reasons, of course, "She'd repeal the Werewolf Registry. I'm certain of it."

At the following house, the door is slammed in his face.

It's probably hopeless, but he daren't stop. Perhaps the next one will be the deciding vote… Persistently, he trudges onwards in the gathering dark.

Downhill from Here

Title: Downhill from Here
Author: Woldy
Rating: PG-13 (for swearing)
Pairing: Sirius/James, Remus/Sirius, Lily/James
Prompt: 'Hollow' for 100 Quills
Wordcount: 100
Warnings: swearing, angst, spoilers for the prequel (does that even make sense as a concept?), unorthodox grammar
Disclaimer: These characters all belong to Jo.

I've been repeatedly ambushed by drabble bunnies recently. I'm in the middle of something and then wham it's thirty minutes later, I've written a drabble & work has gone by the wayside. Still, this is my first Sirius/James fic & it was fun to write. Poor Remus.

The difficulty with Sirius fucking James is that there's no good way for it to end.

Sirius has Remus, James has Lily, and they're best mates. It's all downhill from here.

At Hogwarts things between them were nearly but not quite, but now it indubitably, inescapably is. Is sexual. Nobody could attribute this to friendship.

Touching James is like being fifteen again, wild and reckless. It's no coincidence that they first fucked after fleeing Death Eaters and policemen by motorbike.

The shakily written note from Remus reads, "I'm leaving because of the lying, not the sex."

Remus never comes back.

Chosen family, or 'I'm looking at you, Proposition 8'

Title: Chosen family or 'I'm looking at you, Proposition 8'
Author: Woldy
Rating: PG (for swearing)
Pairing: Remus/Sirius
Prompt: family (& 'smile' for 100 quills)
Word count: 100

The problem wasn't that Sirius lacked a family, the problem was they were poisonous bastards who thought blood and money were all that mattered.

Fuck them. Nuclear families were bullshit. The only family that mattered were the ones you chose yourself – friends, lovers, carers if you were caught by a bad curse.

Sirius wished he were excited for James and Lily, but in truth he figured any institution that excluded gays was not an institution worth preserving.

"Ready, Pads? Got the ring?"

Sirius glanced at Moony who was smiling, spectacularly handsome in tails.

"Yeah," he said, stifling resentment. "Let's go."

My R/S Games Round 1 fic - Of Comets & Counter-Examples

Pretty in Pink

Title: Pretty in Pink
Author: Woldy
Word Count: 100
Rating: R
Challenge: Pink
Disclaimer: These boys belong to Jo.
Notes: the sequel to Polyjuice Payback

Draco didn’t like pink, but conceded that it looked fetching on Potter’s cheeks.

“You disgusting, treacherous, cheating-” shouted Potter, gesticulating furiously. “How dare you enter my house!”

“You seemed to be enjoying yourself before,” Draco drawled, and gave Potter’s lap a pointed look. The erection was visible beneath his rumpled robes.

Potter blushed even pinker and seized his wand. “Stay away from me!”

“Really?” Draco enquired, advancing. “Shouldn’t I finish what I started?”

Draco touched the bulge in Potter’s robes and Potter shuddered, barely resisting when Draco shoved him against the wall.

Next time, Draco wouldn’t bother with the polyjuice.

“Oh my god,” Draco murmured, gazing at the seven extra Potters.

With impeccable timing, a Potter removed his shirt.

“A striptease! Excellent,” said Draco gleefully, as the other Potters begun to undress. Two of them – probably the Twins - paused to check each other out. Draco smirked and moved closer.

“Behave!” Harry warned.

“None of these half-naked Potters are my fault,” Draco said airily, examining someone’s bum. “This was Snape’s little fantasy. There could be whole orgies of -”

With a glare, Harry tugged him out of the Pensieve.

“What?” Draco asked innocently. “Darling, I only have eyes for you.”

“We are never doing this again!” Draco complained, brushing twigs off his robes. “Eugh. I think I have mud in-“

“Ok,” Harry said, placating him, “But it was your idea to role play your what if we’d done this during the war fantasies.”

“It was a brilliant idea,” Draco replied sulkily. “I had visions of you tied up in the Manor dungeons, or dripping wet from that pond. Or treasure and dragons.”

“There wasn’t much of that,” Harry said, “Mostly the war was all about camping.”

Draco pouted. “Some people have no idea what makes a good story,” he drawled.

Learning to Waltz - Parvarti / Mandy Brocklehurst

Title: Learning to Waltz
Word Count: 100
Pairing: Parvarti / Mandy Brocklehurst
Rating: PG-13
Challenge: none
Disclaimer:
These girls belong to Jo.

In retrospect, Parvarti should’ve known earlier, if not from her close ‘friendship’ with Lavender then from the Yule Ball. Honestly, how many straight women preferred to lead?

“Let’s try it again,” she said, smiling at her partner. “And…one, two, three, one, two, three…”

Mandy seemed to be getting the hang of it, because she managed several repetitions of ‘back, sideways, back’ before a mis-timed step caused Parvarti to bump into her.

“That wasn’t bad!” Parvarti said encouragingly.

“No silly,” Mandy replied, gently brushing a stray hair away from Parvarti’s face. “That was deliberate.”

The kiss, at least, was perfectly co-ordinated.
