Notes: Yay, this will be my first finished H/D fic! It is unbeta-ed, so my apologies for any mistakes."Suits should be dry-cleaned, invitations sent.
Whatever form it takes – a tiff, a brawl –
The end of love should be a big event.
It should involve the hiring of a hall.”
Sophie Hannah, “The End of Love”
When Draco saw the wedding announcement in the Prophet’s society pages, it took him barely minutes to devise a plan.
In Draco’s experience, vengeance was a dish best served with champagne. His party would put the Weasley’s wildest, most luxuriant dreams for a wedding reception to shame.
He flooed the florist, caterer and his tailor immediately, wondering idly whether ice sculptures would be over the top.
“I’m so sorry, Draco,” Pansy said, with utter insincerity. She was wearing lemon-coloured silk with frills, so a sombre attitude clearly wouldn’t accessorize.
“Glad you could make it,” Draco drawled, leaning in kiss each of her cheeks. “You look beautiful.”
Pansy simpered and sashayed inside, moving in the direction of the vol-au-vents.
The hall was beautiful: clean marble lines and glittering crystal chandeliers. The ice sculptures were exquisite.
“Draco,” Harry growled, and Draco adopted a carefully neutral expression.
Harry’s arrival was not unexpected, since he had received one of the invitations sent to two hundred of Draco’s closest acquaintances:
The End of the Affair

the conclusion of his relationship with Mr Harry Potter.

at the Potion Master’s Hall

Graciously, Draco had addressed the owl to Ginny Weasley. He wanted her to feel included.
“Harry,” Draco said, turning. “Lovely to see you. Ginny isn’t coming tonight?”
“No,” said Harry in a clipped voice. “Thanks to you, we’re on a break.”
“My commiserations,” Draco lied smoothly.
“I know what you’re doing, and it won’t work. Ginny and I will be fine!” Harry snarled.
“Glad to hear it,” Draco said, laying a pacifying hand on Harry’s shoulder. “Now, how about a smile for the photographers?”
Harry swivelled and saw the massed ranks of the press inside the hall. He bared his teeth at them and a dozen flashes went off.
“This isn’t over!” Harry announced and stormed out, pursued by a crowd of journalists.
Evidently, Harry hadn’t expected the press contingent. Draco had planned for this very eventuality, which was why he’d sent the press invites by Express Owl an hour ago.
Predictably, Ginny Weasley cancelled the wedding. Draco thought that would have happened even if her fiance’s infidelity hadn’t been front page news for a week.
Harry forgave him within six months, but since Draco’s hand was on his cock at the time it was possible he hadn’t meant it.
